Marlon Wayans, now 52, was born on July 23, 1972, in New York City, New York. He is the youngest of ten children of Elvira Alethia (Green), a homemaker and social worker, and Howell Stouten Wayans, a supermarket manager.

He grew up in a poor but creative household in the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan. He is of African-American descent and has a large extended family of entertainers, including his siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he developed his skills in drama and comedy.

He then enrolled at Howard University in Washington, D.C., but dropped out after two years to pursue his career in Hollywood.

Personal Life

Marlon Wayans was in a long-term relationship with Angela Zackery from 1992 to 2013.

They have two children together: a daughter named Amai Zackery Wayans, born in 2000, and a son named Shawn Howell Wayans, born in 2002.

He named his son after his brother and frequent collaborator, Shawn Wayans. He and Angela never married, and they separated amicably in 2013.

He has since dated other women, such as Essence Atkins, Salli Richardson, and Angelica Zachary, but remains single as of 2024.

Career

Marlon Wayans began his career in 1988 when he appeared as a pedestrian in the film I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, directed by his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans. In 1992, he joined the cast of In Living Color, a sketch comedy show created by Keenen.

He worked with his siblings on several comedy films, such as Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996), Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), White Chicks (2004), and Little Man (2006). He also starred in the sitcom The Wayans Bros. with Shawn from 1995 to 1999.

He also ventured into other comedy genres, such as parody, spoof, and satire. He co-wrote and co-starred in the films Dance Flick (2009), A Haunted House (2013), A Haunted House 2 (2014), and Fifty Shades of Black (2016).

He also created and starred in the comedy competition show Funniest Wins (2014) and the online destination for urban comedy What the Funny (2013-2015).
